Dustin Poirier kan gå flera matcher till i UFC

UFC-veteranen Dustin Poirier säger sig vara redo att gå ett par matcher till i UFC. Han förklarar att han gärna ser sig gå kamp i hemdelstaten Louisiana. I dagsläget skall Poirier vara frisk och söker sig en ny matchning, berättar han.

Dustin Poirier vill gå fler kamper

UFC-lättviktaren och MMA-veteranen Dustin ”The Diamond” Poirier (30-9, 1 NC) är inte redo att lägga handskarna på hyllan. Den nu 35-årige amerikanen sade sig vara osäker på om han skulle fortsätta karriären följande hans senaste kamp. Nu är det dock annat ljud i skällan från Poirier, som berättar att han gärna skulle gå några matcher till.

Frisk och kampredo

I en intervju nyligen berättar Dustin Poirier att han i dagsläget söker sig en kamp. Han beskriver hur det kan bli en eller flera till matcher för UFC. Dessa skall dock vara de tuffaste bataljerna han kan få, säger han.

Could be uno mas, could be dos mas. My goal is to get an event here in Louisiana. Maybe New Orleans, that’s my goal. I’m not asking for a favourable fight, I wanted the hardest fights I can get. I asked for Justin Gaethje, I asked for Dan Hooker. I’m healed up. I did a bunch of therapy sessions on my knee. My nose, I can’t breathe, but everything else is good.

To be completely content: I’d love to lay my gloves down at home and never fight again. Finish here in front of my Louisiana friends and family, the people who have been supporting me since I was 17 years old through fighting, and to go out on top.

To show I’m leaving, but I still have it, that’s important to me too. I want to beat these guys, have tough fights, and walk away on top like ‘This guy left when he was still on top of his game’. That’s how I want my story to be.

Nästan bråk med McGregor

Om ytterligare en match med stjärnan ”Notorious” Conor McGregor (22-6) blir aktuellt återstår att se. De två männen kan dock hamna i luven på varandra även utanför oktogonen. Poirier beskriver bland annat att det hade kunnat bli bråk när de han och McGregor en gång befann sig på samma plats.

I had just finished my signing for Celsius, and I was walking over to another booth to meet some people, and Conor was behind me apparently. My agent was walking behind me, and grabs me. Conor might’ve seen the back of my head, I didn’t see him.

My Agent grabbed my shoulders and said ‘This way, to the right, to the right’ and once we got cleared of everybody, he was like ‘Dude, we almost had a big problem’. We just have such a long history, he said some foul things. Just everything we have over the past, how many years since our first fight, it’s not cordial anymore. If we would’ve made eye contact, if our eyes would’ve met, it would’ve been bad probably.
