Jon Anik stödjer Justin Gaethjes önskan på titelmatch

UFC-kommentatorn Jon Anik vill se lättviktaren Justin Gaethje gå en kamp om bältet. Enligt Anik har Gaethje gjort mer än tillräckligt för att få en möjlighet på titeln i viktklassen. Topprankade Arman Tsarukyan håller dock inte med.

Justin ”The Highlight” Gaethje (26-5) gick nyligen kamp i oktogonen. Han mötte och besegrade Rafael ”Ataman” Fiziev (12-4) i co-main matchen under UFC 313. Gaethje lyckades ta hem vinsten via ett enhälligt beslut följande tre ronder av stridande i buren. Nu vill Gaethje få en chans på lättviktsbältet. Han har funnit gehör för sina bältesambitioner hos UFC-kommentatorn Jon Anik.

I en intervju nyligen förklarar Jon Anik att Justin Gaethje visat upp tillräckligt i oktogonen för att få en titelchans. En stor sak som talar för Gaethje är att han tidigare inte mött den regerande mästaren Islam Makhachev (27-1) i en kamp.

I don’t know what the pay-per-view window says about Gaethje vs. Topuria. Charles Oliveira is worthy, as well. I think we can all agree there are three options: Ilia Topuria, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira. The nature of this win for Gaethje and the fact that we haven’t seen that fight, to me promotionally, I would go in that direction.

UFC-bossen Dana White har också uttalat sig om Gaethjes ambitioner på att gå ytterligare en titelmatch i organisationen. Han säger att oddsen för att ”The Highlight” ska få kliva in i oktogonen i en bälteskamp är ganska så stora.

I mean, what’s he ranked right now? Fourth or something, right? Third, there you go. He’s still the No. 3-ranked guy in the world. So the odds of him getting a title shot are pretty good.
