Tidigare UFC-fajtern Alan Jouban pekar ut Alex Pereira som bäst P4P

Den pensionerade MMA-fightern Alan Jouban vill se Alex Pereira högst upp på P4P-listan. Enligt Jouban är den brasilianska mästaren bäst just nu tack vare sin aktivitet och resultat. Pereira ligger idag på plats nummer 2, under lättviktsmästaren Islam Makhachev som toppar listan.

Det finns få fans som skulle argumentera emot att den regerande lätta tungviktsmästaren i UFC Alex ”Poatan” Pereira (12-2) är en av de absolut bästa MMA-utövarna i världen. Den tidigare kickboxaren har på kort tid erövrat titeln i två av organisationens viktklasser.

Han har även funnit avslutet i sju av sina nio segrar i UFC. Dock är Pereira inte ansedd att vara UFC:s bästa fajters. Den äran tillhör lättviktsmästaren Islam Makhachev (26-1), som ligger etta på P4P-listan. Detta är något som den tidigare welterviktaren och nu MMA-reportern Alan Jouban vill se en ändring på.

Aktiv i buren

Enligt Alan Jouban borde Alex Perira vara den högst rankade fajtern på UFC:s P4P-lista. Det faktum att “Poatan” både är aktiv samt vinner de matcher han går på imponerande borde vara tillräckligt, menar Jouban. Det som dock talar för att Islam Makhachev skall inneha toppositionen skulle vara för att ryssen har mött fler etablerade namn, förklarar han.

So he was one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but he was a guy that was undersized fighting up in weight. Dustin Poirier, as good as he is and as established as a name, this was the easier fight for them.

They hand-picked Dustin Poirier. Yes, he was the guy available, but he was also the guy that they knew he doesn’t defend takedowns well, and he’s lost all of his title fights by choke. So they took somewhat the easier path right here and hand-picked Poirier. That’s why I have to discredit some of it. I think there’s credit, but that’s why I would put Pereira above him.
