UFC-tungviktaren Tom Aspinall förväntar sig få en titelkamp i divisionen. För honom spelar det ingen roll om det är mästaren Jon Jones som står för motståndet. Welterviktsmästaren Belal Muhammad har gått in på djupet av den uppkommande matchen i viktklassen mellan Leon Edwards och Sean Brady.

Tom Aspinall söker bälteskamp

Interim-mästaren i UFC:s tungviktsdivision Tom ”Honey Badger” Aspinall (15-3) tycks ha tröttnat på sin väntan på en kamp med veteranen Jon ”Bones” Jones (28-1, 1 NC). Den engelske 31-åringen säger sig nu ara villig att skippa mötet om hans nästa kamp är för titeln i divisionen. Vare sig det är Jones eller någon annan som står för motståndet, är Aspinall främst intresserad av bältet, säger han.

Vill slåss om bältet

I en intervju nyligen beskriver Tom Aspinall hur UFC försöker göra sitt yttersta för att arrangera en kamp mellan han själv och Jon Jones. Dock förklarar även Aspinall att han är villig att hoppa över den matchen. Villkoret är dock att han får gå match om tungviktstiteln i sin nästa oktogonframträdande.

The UFC tell me, they assure me they are doing everything they can to make this fight. So as far as I’m aware, this is now totally down to Jon Jones and his team to work that out. I’m literally just waiting for a date. But what’s holding it back is the UFC want to make the fight with me and Jon, and as far as I’m aware, it’s now about maybe financial, or otherwise.

I’m not too sure, to be honest. I’m just waiting for the call right now. I said quite a while ago now: I will retire Jon Jones without even fighting. That’s something that I said. Jon, let’s do it. If you want to do it, you don’t have to ask me twice. If not, I’ll fight somebody else for the undisputed belt. Happy to fight anybody. Any time, anywhere, doesn’t matter. I’m ready to go.

Belal Muhammads analys

I UFC:s welterviktsdivision kommer snart den forne mästaren Leon ”Rocky” Edwards (22-4, 1 NC) att ta sig an amerikanen Sean Brady (17-1). Inför deras stundande möte har den regerande titelhållaren Belal “Remember The Name” Muhammad (24-3, 1 NC) tagit en titt på deras kamp. Han tror det blir en jämn match de två männen emellan och förväntar sig mycket i väg av en stående batalj.

You just had a whole camp for me, you just fought Usman, and then when you’re looking at Jack, he was a whole different style than us, but it’s not going to be a change for you. Even when you’re training for Jack, he’s a boxer. Brady is going to need to box to get inside of you, so your distance control should be good, your hands should be good.

Then Brady has to come to you on short notice, so it’s going to be an interesting fight. I don’t think Brady is going to be able to get in on him with his takedowns. I think Brady shoots kind of like Usman where he reaches, and he doesn’t really have great setups. And in a bigger cage, I think Leon is going to be able to stick and move, kick and move. But I’m excited to see it.
