Jamahal Hill uttalar sig om regelbrottet i matchen mot Alex Pereira

Den tidigare UFC-mästaren i lätt tungvikt Jamahal Hill har uttalat sig rörande knockoutförlusten mot Alex Pereira under UFC 300. Specifikt, har Hill kommenterat om den olagliga spark mot skrevet som Pereira tycks ha lidit sekunderna innan avslutet kom. Enligt Hill skall sparken inte ha landat olovligt, utan i stället träffat Pereiras höft.

Sparken träffade höften säger Hill

Det var under UFC 300 som Jamahal ”Sweet Dreams” Hill (12-2, 1 NC) återigen trädde in i oktogonen efter cirka ett år utanför sporten. Han ställdes mot den regerande lätta tungviktsmästaren Alex ”Poatan” Pereira (10-2) i en kamp om bältet i divisionen. Matchen blev en relativt snabb saga de två emellan, då Pereira kunde finna avslutet via knockout redan i den första ronden.

Precis innan avslutet kom hade dock Pereira tillsynes lidit en spark mot skrevet från Hill. Brasilianaren valde att vifta bort ett avbrott från domare Herb Dean och fortsatte sedan med att besegra sin motståndare sekunderna som följde. Enligt Hill var det dock inget fel med sparken. Den skall ha träffat Pereiras höft, menar han.

Lovlig spark

I en video publicerad till sociala medier förklarar Jamahal Hill att hans spark träffade Alex Pereira på höften. Det ser dock ut som en spark riktad mot hans motståndares skrev, säger han. I slutändan ser han dock att han själv begick ett fel i att inte skydda sig mot det angrepp från Pereira som följde situationen.

I’ve seen some of the controversy, people speaking on the stoppage and things like that with Herb Dean after I kicked Alex in the hip, and it appeared to be a low blow. I’m just going to say it’s ‘protect yourself at all times.’ My feelings on it honestly don’t matter.

I just take it as a lesson learned and just grow from there, understand that it’s ‘protect yourself at all times’, pay attention and stay focused at all times, even through commands and gamesmanship.

I took no damage, most of the fall was just me falling down. I remember everything, I remember looking up seeing his legs and trying to block, reach for the underhook. He was able to land some shots and throw my equilibrium off on the other side, but I was coherent the whole time.

Redo för Rountree

Hill kommer I sin nästa kamp att träda in i oktogonen i slutet av juni under UFC 303. Där ställs han mot landsmannen Khalil “The War Horse” Rountree Jr. (13-5, 1 NC). Enligt ”Sweet Dreams” kommer Rountree utsättas för all den frustration som Hill går och bär på efter förlustkampen mot Pereira, förklarar han.

He’s a good fighter, he’s on the hottest streak in the division at this point, he’s ready and hungry, been calling for a shot at the top and he’s just unfortunate now that he gets the top dog in the division, and I’m going to show what the top of this division is really about.

I’m going to put it on this next guy, Khalil Rountree, he has to feel it next, he’s going to have to feel everything with the frustrations that I feel from last week and I want Alex. I want that fight again, that’s the only fight I want at this point. I want to get back to that fight so I can finish what I was showing.
