Jon Jones beviljas tävlingslicens – matchen mot Alexander Gustafsson blir av

Nu är alla papper påskrivna och licenser utdelade. Matchen mellan Jon Jones och Alexander Gustafsson kommer att bli av på UFC 232 i Las Vegas den 29 december.

Även om titelmatchen i lätt tungvikt varit annonserat i många veckor så har hela tiden ett möjligt hinder stått i vägen. Eftersom Jones nyligen avtjänat en 15 månader lång avstängning för att ha testat positivt för anabola så var han därför tvungen att ansöka om ny tävlingslicens.

Under tisdagen höll Kaliforniens idrottskommission (CSAC) en prövning för Jones licensansökan. Kommissionen har nu valt att bevilja stjärnan licens under förutsättningen att han också genomför samhällstjänst i form av ungdomsarbete.

Jones’ licensing hearing was the final hurdle standing in the way of the former 205-pound champion’s impending return to the cage. His license was previously revoked by the CSAC in a February commission meeting, at which he was also fined $205,000. At that previous meeting, CSAC executive officer Andy Foster said that California would honor USADA’s resolution to the case. Which turned out to be a 15-month suspension following arbitration.

Jones’ license is temporary contingent on him putting together a community service plan with the CSAC. After which his license will be fully reinstated. Jones’ proposed plan was to work with youth programs at Gracie Barra gyms in Anaheim and Albuquerque, with the goal of completing his community service by the end of the first quarter of 2019.

Med allt pappersarbete avklarat så finns nu inga förväntade hinder kvar för returmatchen mellan Jones och Gustafsson. Du kan läsa allt om UFC 232 här.
