Aljamain Sterling klagar över dagens MMA-fan

Den tidigare UFC-bantamviktsmästaren Aljamain Sterling har haft en konfrontation med MMA-fans. Händelsen inträffade innan UFC 306, där Merab Dvalishvili erövrade bantamviktsbältet från Sean O’Malley. Enligt Sterling är det en oroväckande utveckling på hur fans beter sig mot fajters.

Aljamain Sterling ser mer aggressivitet i MMA-fans

Efter att vägt in inför sin kamp med ”Suga” Sean O’Malley (18-2, 1 NC) under UFC 306, lämnade Merab ”The Machine” Dvalishvili (18-4) arenan tillsammans med den tidigare mästaren över divisionen Aljamain ”Funk Master” Sterling (24-4). Där stötte de på en skara med MMA-fans.

De två grupperna började bråka verbalt, vilket slutligen ledde till att Sterling och Dvalishvili blev bortledda av säkerhetsvakter. Nu har Sterling uttalat sig om händelsen, vilken han anser pekar på en oroväckande utveckling bland UFC:s fans.

I en intervju nyligen berättade Aljamain Sterling om det verbala bråk som han och Merab Dvalishvili hade med en grupp O’Malley-fans. Enligt Sterling försökte han lugna ner stämningen, men blev bara bemött av mer aggressivitet.

When Merab went on the bus after the Friday evening face-off, we saw a bunch of people waving him down, so he gets off the bus to go over because that’s the type of guy he is. Now, his minions Schmitty and the other skinny twig were on the other side. I see these guys screaming and yelling, coming all the back over to be assholes.

I was like ‘Alright guys, the presser is done, and now you’re actually in our personal space’. I told him ‘Dude, you’re really close now and you’re being straight-up disrespectful and I’m right here now, so if you want to sit behind this, you’re not very far away from me. Some people are saying that I’m being too soft, fuck you

Sterling fortsätter med att beskriva hur MMA-fans blivit alltmer respektlösa. Även om han anser att det finns en tid och plats för lite mer hätska utbyten, var scenariot med honom och Dvalishvili inte ett sådant läge.

There was a time where your words had consequences. People have gotten way too comfortable with just being complete assholes and thinking that there is nothing wrong with them being assholes. We’re not in the arena where you can chirp away where you’ve paid up money to be there.

Now we’re in our personal space, we’re working and being professional with what we are trying to do, and you’re literally walking over and being a complete prick. There’s nothing cool about that whatsoever. I think there’s a time and a place, they just picked the wrong place.
