Dana White imponerad av Alex Pereiras insats under UFC 307

UFC-bossen Dana White har bara goda ting att säga om den lätta tungviktsmästaren Alex Pereira. Den senaste segern över Khalil Rountree Jr. är något som särskilt imponerade på White. Trots det tuffa motståndet för Pereira kunde han besegra Rountree Jr. tack vare sina bensparkar, förklarar UFC:s vd.

UFC:s lätta tungviktsmästare Alex ”Poatan” Pereira (12-2) besegrade under den gångna helgen Khalil ”The War Horse” Rountree Jr. (13-6, 1 NC). Kampen, vilken stod som huvudmatch under UFC 307, fick ett avslut via TKO sent in i den fjärde ronden. En som var särskilt imponerad av Pereiras insats under matchen är organisationens vd, Dana White.

Rountree Jr. må ha förlorat sin chans på bältet, men låter inte det vara alltför demoraliserande. Den 34-årige amerikanen har redan börjat ställa in sig på hans nästa kamp. Den kan komma stå mot den tidigare lätta tungviktsmästaren Jamahal ”Sweet Dreams” Hill (12-2, 1 NC).

Bensparkarna var nyckeln för Pereira

What this guy has done is unbelievable. And the way that he’s done it, this guy destroys everybody. This guy always wants to fight. He’s 37 too, it’s not like he’s 28 and he’s got this many fights left. But we’ll see how it all plays out. What a hell of a fight. Khalil Rountree, I mean, another level of tough.

You have to respect this guy, but did this not play out the way everybody thought it would? Everybody at first was like, ‘Oh he’s ranked No. 8.’ But you knew that it was going to be a badass fight. You knew it was going to be badass fight. You can never measure heart. You don’t know how that’s going to go. Well, now you know.

I felt like the difference was the low leg kick, and when Pereira started calf kicking him, he was destroying that leg and he [Rountree Jr.] was having trouble putting pressure on it, and he was having trouble with his punching power, his movement, everything. He systematically just started picking him apart.

Khalil Rountree tror på Jamahal Hill-kamp

Khalil Rountree Jr. tror att det är oundvikligt att han kommer stå mitt emot Jamahal Hill i oktogonen. Enligt Rountree ska han samtala med UFC:s matchmakers för att försöka få fram en högt rankad motståndare i hans nästa kamp. Detta skulle enligt ”The War Horse” kunna bli Hill.

I think it’s almost inevitable. I think he’s ranked number three. So anyone up there in the Top 5 is kind of inevitable for me. So let’s see what happens. Pretty shortly here, I’ll be talking to the matchmakers, and the bosses and see what they think. I’m here for it all, I’m not done. I’m going to continue and I believe that I’ll have another chance at fighting for a belt. Whether it’s Alex or someone else, if someone’s able to take it from him. I think that fight can definitely still happen.
