Max Griffin söker nytt kontrakt med UFC

Welterviktaren Max Griffin säger sig gärna skriva på ett nytt kontrakt med UFC. Griffin, som gått matcher i organisationen sedan 2016, gick sin sista match på det nuvarande kontraktet i början av månaden. Med två vinster av tre på kontot, är Griffin redo att fortsätta sin UFC-karriär.

Griffin har mer att ge i UFC

Max ”Pain” Griffin (20-10) har varit en del av UFC sedan augusti månad 2016. Även om han förlorade sin debut, har han under åren etablerat sig som ett igenkännligt namn i organisationens welterviktsdivision. Nu 38 år fyllda är Griffin mer motiverad än någonsin tidigare att fortsätta sin karriär som UFC-fighter.

I sin senaste kamp drabbade han samman med Jeremiah Wells (12-4-1) under UFC-galan den 10:e februari. Griffin lyckades där ta hem en seger via delat beslut, vilket ger honom två vinster på hans tre senaste matcher i oktogonen. Dock var matchen mot Wells även Griffins sista på det nuvarande kontraktet. Således ”Pain” nu enträgen om att signera ett nytt kontrakt med UFC.

Bättre under press

När det kommer till hans senaste kamp, förklarar Griffin att han uppskattade den press som sattes på honom. Den skall ha gjort honom bättre under kampen, vilken blev vunnen via ett delat beslut.

I think it made me fight better and fight more composed. Jeremiah is a wild guy, he’s explosive and does a lot of shit. But, he tried to intimidate me, it was pretty emotional. I just had to shut all that down and do what we had to do.

I weirdly wasn’t nervous because during the fight his corner, they told him he had to win the third round. They were talking from a perspective of defeat, that they needed this one. They were telling him he needed to finish me in the third round and take it, and I felt the same way, but I felt like I was winning. It was close, but I landed the harder shots.

Redo att skriva på nytt kontrakt

I en intervju nyligen förklarar Max Griffin att han är redo att ta sig an ett nytt kontrakt med UFC. Han sager sig även vara redo för att ta sig an svårare, rankat motstånd under sin närmsta matcher.

It takes about a week, just let them figure out their stuff. Man, I’m ready to fight in the UFC, the UFC is where it’s at, there are other shows in town but it isn’t comparable to the UFC. I want to finish here, but I want to get paid.

I fought out my deal to give me a little more juice, but just give me some of these guys in the top 15. I want to re-sign and I want someone in the top 15, then top 10. Just fight, I want to fight, I’m not fighting as much as I want, I’m pretty healthy. I want to fight, re-sign me, let’s fight.
