Coachen: Vill se Leon Edwards vs. Conor McGregor

UFC-welterviktsmästaren Leon Edwards coach Dave Lovell har planer för engelsmannen efter UFC 304. Till helgen kommer Edwards försvara bältet mot Belal Muhammad. Förutsatt att han vinner, vill coach Lovell se att Edwards tar sig an Conor McGregor härnäst.

Coach Lovell har ambitioner på McGregor-match

Den regerande welterviktsmästaren i UFC Leon ”Rocky” Edwards (22-3, 1 NC) är planerad att försvara sitt bälte under den kommande helgens gala. Edwards kommer ta sig an utmanaren Belal ”Remember The Name” Muhammad (23-3, 1 NC) i Manchester, England, i huvudmatchen under UFC 304.

Engelsmannens coach, Dave Lovell, tror starkt på en seger för sin fighter. Därefter har Lovell tankar på att söka en toppnamn inom organisationen som nästa kamp för Edwards. Det namn som coachen tänker sig tillhör ”Notorious” Conor McGregor (22-6).

McGregor nästa

I en intervju nyligen avslöjar Leon Edwards coach Dave Lovell att han hoppas på att kunna sammansätta en kamp med Conor McGregor. Lovell ser det som en passande prövning för Edwards, både pga. McGregors höga profil i UFC samt de pengar som förväntas komma med en sådan matchning.

We’ve got a few options but if we’re talking about a fight financially that can obviously pay more than the average then it’d be the fight with Conor McGregor. Conor’s obviously mentioned that he would move up to welterweight and fight Leon if he was to beat Chandler.

I haven’t really got nobody I would say I would like Leon to fight apart from if he were to fight Conor, it’d be a great name to have on his CV and plus it’s a mega-money fight, if that was to happen in Ireland, could you imagine?

Vidare, Ser coach Lovell att den stundande matchen med Muhammad kommer gå Edwards väg. Enligt Lovell kan ”Rocky” vinna antingen via avslut eller ta en poängseger över amerikanen.

Personally, I think Leon can stop him. If Belal gets careless it could be early, but Leon likes to have a look and a feel, if Belal doesn’t walk onto anything, Leon can get him out there in either round 3 or 4 or win a unanimous decision.

På frågan om hur Edwards skulle prestera i en kamp med den regerande lättviktsmästaren Islam Makhachev (26-1), ser Lovell inga problem för sin fighter. Han menar att Makhachev inte har gått match med en så skicklig striker som Edwards tidigare.

Leon’s had a feel of him already because back in the day they were at American Top Team together when they first started out their careers and they did have a little wrestle along with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the rest of the boys. Islam moving up to welterweight, would he be big enough, will he have the same effect he has at his weight now, I don’t think so, has he met a sharpshooter like Leon, no he hasn’t.
